Wae Rebo Village often to be called as a heaven above the clouds, because of its location in the land with altitude around 1,000 meters above sea level, to be precise in Satar Lenda, West Satar Mese, Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara. Wae Rebo has 7 traditional cone-shaped houses called Mbaru Niang as an icon of this tourism village. Wae Rebo is included in the top 50 best tourism villages in the 2021 Indonesia Tourism Village Awards (ADWI) and also received the Top Award of Excellence from UNESCO in the 2012 UNESCO Asia Pacific Heritage Awards.

The people of Wae Rebo Village revealed that they came from the descendants of the Minang people. Thousands of years ago, their ancestors explored the sea by ship and landed on the island of Flores. Their customs and culture have mingled with the habits of the people of Flores Island. However, they still maintain some Minang culture, one of which is the architecture of the Mbaru Niang traditional house which still has Minang elements. Lembang Nonongan Village is located around the slopes and foothills of Mount Sopai, precisely in Sopai District, North Toraja Regency, South Sulawesi Province. Lembang Nonongan Village is well known as an agricultural village that still maintains ancestral customs. With its characteristics, the village won 3rd Place in the 2021 Indonesian Tourism Village Award (ADWI) for the Best Tourism Village in the Creative Content Category. The event was organized by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia.

Lembang Nonongan Village is known as an agricultural village, offers a number of tourist attractions from the daily activities of its people who still maintain their ancestral habits that have been passed down from generation to generation. These activities include harvesting rice or To Mangrengnge’ Pare, pounding rice or To Mal’lambuk, harvesting forest products or To Mangrengnge’ Utan and taking water from rivers or To Mewai. Visitors also can find out about the traditional coffee processing carried out by the people of Lembang Nonongan which is harvested from coffee plantations in this village area.

In addition to its activities, Lembang Nonongan Village is also rich for its arts and cultures. The oldest Toraja traditional house named Tongkonan Nonongan can be found in this village. There is also a traditional weaving of Toraja-patterned cloth. Penglipuran Village is an environmentally friendly residential complex located in Bangli Regency, Bali Province. The village has a conceptual spatial layout, the housing is very neatly arranged and the streets are clean and also calm without any vehicles passing by. The spatial arrangement in Penglipuran Village can be an attraction itself for this village. It was built with the Tri Mandala concept, where the village layout is divided into three areas, namely Utama Mandala, Madya Mandala, and Nista Mandala. The division of the region is sorted from the northernmost region to the southernmost region. In the northern region as the Main Mandala or sacred place area or place of the gods, where the places of worship are established. In the middle region as the Madya Mandala or a residential area, with neatly arranged buildings built on the same size area with its main door that are identically and symmetrical the same between one and the other. The southern region as the Nista Mandala or a special zone for the deceased residents.
